April marks the beginning of sea turtle nesting season. Padre Island is synonymous with preserving the future for Kemp’s Ridley sea turtles. The world’s smallest sea turtle weighing in at about 100 pounds is named after Richard M. Kemp, the fisherman from Florida, who first described them.
